CommuniCare Health Foundation
We understand that quality healthcare is essential for everyone, especially for the underrepresented families in the communities served by CommuniCare. The generosity of individuals, corporations, and other foundations has enabled our organization to thrive, with almost 65% of our budget coming from their kind donations. Your donation, no matter the amount, is essential in ensuring we can continue providing high-quality healthcare access to those who need it the most. The past four years have highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare, and we need your help more than ever to continue our work. We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors, and we want you to know that your gift is highly valued and will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
The CommuniCare Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your gifts may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.
Ways To Make A Donation
If you are interested in a formal named gift or wish to celebrate someone special to you by dedicating a donation in their name, we can name a space in your or their honor.
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is one of the most beneficial and fastest growing means of charitable giving today, offering immediate tax advantages, simplified record-keeping, and flexibility in choosing beneficiaries and investment options. They function like a Family Foundation, offering opportunities to engage your whole family in philanthropic decisions and to teach your children to live generously. If you are looking to create a lasting legacy, and donate to the charities you care about, contact us at the CommuniCare Health Foundation about the flexibility.
Why Use a Donor-Advised Fund?
Flexibility – DAF holders receive an immediate tax deduction for their contribution, but they are not subject to a legal minim payout requirement like a private foundation. The flexibility helps donors maximize tax benefits while helping them be more systematic and methodical about their giving.
Simplicity – The sponsoring organization that holds the fund takes the responsibility of all the expensive administrative work, including filling annual returns and preparing financial statements.
Tax Efficiency – DAF contributions provide a federal income tax deduction up to 50 percent of the adjusted gross income for cash contributions and up to 30 percent of adjusted gross income for appreciated securities.
To learn more information about donor advised funds or other types of planned gift opportunities, please contact CommuniCare Health Foundation’s CEO, Marisol Cortez, and (210) 233-7080 or a mcortez@communicaresa.org.
You can make a bequest to the CommuniCare Health Foundation for a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate:
I give, devise and bequeath ________(dollar amount or percentage of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to the CommuniCare Health Foundation, located at 3066 E. Commerce St. Ste 1802 B, San Antonio, TX 78220 as an unrestricted gift, to be used at the sole discretion of the CommuniCare Health Foundation.
You can make a contingency bequest to the CommuniCare Health Foundation, which allows you to account for a change in your beneficiary’s circumstances.
I give, devise and bequeath [ insert name ] X percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate if s/he survives me. If [insert name] does not survive me, I give, devise and bequest the CommuniCare Health Foundation, X percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate as an unrestricted gift, to be used at its sole discretion.
The CommuniCare Health Foundation welcomes philanthropic support through gifts of life insurance policies when the policies are paid in full, and the CommuniCare Health Foundation has been named as the owner and irrevocable beneficiary of the policy. Although current tax deduction is not available, it will result in a federal estate tax deduction for the full amount of the proceeds payable to the charity, regardless of the policy size. Or you can make an assignment or gift of a life insurance policy that you currently own or donate a new life insurance policy.
